Борба и Икономика (Borbata i Ekonomika)
The ongoing war between the United States and Iran is significantly impacting Latin American economies, leading to rising prices for fuel, food, and transportation. Countries like Argentina, Costa Rica, and Mexico are experiencing soaring inflation, partly fueled by increased fuel costs and disruptions in global supply chains. Argentina’s economy is particularly vulnerable, with rising costs impacting everything from public transport to tortilla prices, and the situation is exacerbated by a reliance on fuel imports. Costa Rica and other “net importers” of fuel are also grappling with higher costs and increased pressure on household budgets. Mexico’s reliance on US fuel imports further compounds the problem, despite government subsidies. Haiti faces a worsening food crisis due to the conflict, alongside existing instability and violence. While some oil-exporting nations like Argentina and Mexico may benefit from increased revenues, the overall effect is expected to persist for months, potentially hindering economic growth and prolonging hardship for Latin American families.
